HAIR STRAIGHTENER HELP? !(easy 10 points!)?

okay so i have dirty blond hair that goes down to like the middle of my chest. i have side bangs(they're grown out so i need to cut them again), and layers. my hair is straight but sometimes it flips out weirdly or has dents. anyway, i was at my friend's house a couple of days ago and i used her hair straightener. it made my hair look reallyyyy good, so i asked her what kind it was. she said it was a Hot Tools Professional straightener. today, i decided to look for my straightener to see what kind i had. i have the Hot Tools Professional straightener too, but apparently mine is ceramic and my friend's is not. i think that my friend's works better, but i'm not sure. i have heard that ceramics are better for your hair, because they don't damage it the way flat irons do. is it true that ceramics don't damage your hair and regular ones do? if so, has anyone noticed that the performance of a ceramic is worse than a regular one? thank you in advance to everyone who answers!!!

The ceramics tend to be better for your hair. If you want one that's ceramic and works really well, get one with gold plates. The best straighteners are from the brands: chi, ghd, and conair. =]
