why do they used this kind of wrench, or can they just get a socket and rachet and tight it down any1 know? The no hub band 60-lb and i think it is not tight enough wouldnt it be better to get it tighter?
If you think about the way a standard socket torque wrench works, it puts a lot of pressure on the nut or bolt in directions other than the circular, but being used on mostly metal surfaces, it's not a problem. This style is preferred by plumbers as the way that it is used, it puts almost ALL force in the circular direction and will have a much lesser chance of distorting the rubber under the clamp it is being used on. It's pretty much a standard size for the clamps as well and is factory set for 80# so the user doesn't ever have to worry about *setting* the torque. Anything more than that and it would be much more likely to distort the fitting making it leak. One tool, fits in the tool bag quite well, doesn't need adjustment, and is easy to use without distorting the fitting. Everything a plumber could want.
