What do you think of my poem: Pronouncement?
Sledge hammer blows to my head.
A fist in my gut.
Blinding flame, blue-white
as the welder's torch
sears my eyes.
I retch.
The doctor's voice
drones on.
Cancer.
I stretch my arms to
shield you from the blows.
No, not you, not you.
I'm only level one so I can't give thumbs up; if I could I would.

Powerful imagery--so much that I can feel the sledge hammer, and the searing flames. Your ending grabbed me and shocked me, and would not let me go.
Yes, it is deep. All throughout you show and do not tell, yet when you do tell, I think all readers FEEL it.
Every time I read your poem, I am struck again with the anguish first of thinking the diagnosis is for me, but to collapse under the grief that it is for someone I love. Better that it was mine.
